Visit from Mamageese 10.24.11

Mom came recently to see Gus.  She came bearing gifts as she often does.
She gave James 2 trucks.

Martin got some dinosaur magnets.

The girls got some pots and pans to play with together.

Lydia got a little farm set to put together.

She made Gus a beautiful rag quilt!  She has made one for Lydia, James and now Gus.  They are all so precious and treasures the kids will have forever.

She also brought a fun fall craft for the kids to make with her.  She and Papa Carl are so generous.  We always look forward to her visits.  Thank you so much mom!

Utility Room Cabinetry Work 10.17.11

Stephen and I were recently asked how we "work" with our children and how do they "help" us.
I thought I would take this opportunity to show some pictures of our little "helpers".

Stephen has taken on the challenge of building shelves in our utility room!  I am so proud of him.  He has done an excellent job!!  It has helped me out tremendously in more ways than one.  I am so excited to organize things better and have a place to put things in a nice neat order.

At one time he asked me if the girls were busy because he needed their help outside.  I took some pictures of the things they were helping with...
Elaina sitting on a board as Stephen chizzles out a notch in one end.
We are so grateful for this time in our life when we teach our children why and how we do everything.
James`s turn to sit on the board as Stephen saws on the other end.
We have fun as we "walk along, talk along" as it says in Deuteronomy 6:7
The 3 big girls standing on the end of the plywood as Stephen cuts on his mark
Therefore the kids think working and chores are fun and are always willing to help us with whatever we are doing.
Millie handing him screws as he finishes with one and is ready for another.
Sometimes it is challenging keeping them all busy with something to do when they want so bad to help out.
I actually got to help a little to...I held up the finishing board as he screwed it on.
We are so blessed with an army of little helpers!

Martin didn't get to help much as he was instructed to sit down with his foot elevated.  You see, the day before he was playing hide and seek with Aunt Margaret and in the process of running to base, he stepped on a branchy bush stump and poked his foot in 3 places and could hardly walk after the fact.

Gus 10-13-2011

Here are some photos of Gus over the last few days.

It's a Boy! 10-13-11

Augustus Walker Herzog has arrived!!
He was born here at home at 8:37 am on Thursday, October 13, 2011.
He weighed 8 lbs. 15 oz. and was 21 inches long.
He is happy and healthy and we praise the Lord for His protection during the labor and birth.
Things went well and we are so grateful little Gus is here.

Stephen getting Gus dressed to go to town.  October 13th is our little nephews birthday and we joined them at his birthday party at the local park that evening.
Proud Papa and Mama with little britches...Gus :)
3 generations.

The kids spent 2 nights at the farm with Mo and Paw Paw and Sarah and Josh and had a great time.  We are so blessed to have such loving and willing family to help out.  They were well taken care of.  We joined them for meals, then went home and rested in between.  All the kids got to take turns holding Gus.

School Time 9-2011

I have been so proud of Stephen.  He has been teaching the kids!  They love it and have had a great time doing school.  We are borrowing the Herzog's chalk board until we make our own.  It has been a fun and exciting tool to have here at the house for all the kids to get to use.  Thank you Mo and PawPaw.  Eventually I would like to make each of the kids their own little mini chalk board to practice things on and have one big one for them to copy from.  That thought reminds me of the old days and sounds like lots of fun and cuts way down on paper :)  Here are some pictures of 2 different school days.

We are so grateful to have our children here at home with us!  Thank you Lord!

Around the Farm- Sept 2011

Stephen's cousin, Sharla is having a house built on the farm.  We went over one cool morning to watch the cement foundation being poured.
The wild fire in the area is seen by that huge billow of smoke.  It lasted several days and it is the second one in 3 months that has been within 10 miles from our home.  We are so grateful for the Lord's protection on us and pray for those who have been affected by the fires.
Recently the kids had a chance to play in the sprinkler at the farm that waters the big Sam Houston live oak tree (Mo & PawPaw have been trying to water it regularly to keep it from dying like so many other trees on the farm from the drought).  Lydia (above) and Millie, Bella and Elaina (below) all having a great time!

James (above) and Martin (below) also had a blast!
