When working cows this time, Martin got to be a big helper... he got to open and close the gate on the trailer when the cows and calves were being loaded. He was usually about 15 seconds to slow (because the gate was so heavy for his little arm to open), but they were able to get all the ones loaded that they needed to, and not let the ones already loaded escape. He was so proud!
Martin waiting for instructions to open the gate and let the cows and calves in.
The girls were on the tailgate for a while watching, but soon found their way back inside the truck.
There's Bella in the back.
One last photo of Martin opening the gate. You can see the calf just standing there waiting for it to open, while Martin is pulling the gate open. What you don't see in the picture is Stephen behind the calf making all kinds of noise trying to keep the calf from turning around and going back out the shoot. The poor thing doesn't quite know what to do. The gate in front of him isn't open enough to walk through, and there is a big man behind him hollering to keep him from turning around. Poor little confused thing.
