Our Bulls 2.10.10

Stephen has been doing a lot of research and learning on quality herd bulls. We purchased a Miniature Hereford bull last March in hopes of putting him out with the herd. Mr. & Mrs. Herzog have raised a bull from the herd to save as a herd bull. Stephen, Martin and I took them both to the local vet in Navasota to have them tested. It was my first time to experience something like that. The vet was very nice and showed us the semen on the microscope, explained things to us, and was willing to answer all of our questions.
This brindle bull was tested first, and was ranked at only 40%. The vet said he still had good potential, and that he just may need more time...we will re-test in a month.
This little mini Hereford tested out at 75% and the vet said he looked like a "superstar". He also said that he would improve with time. That made Stephen so excited and proud.
I won't list all the other details, but did want to document briefly about our bulls.
We bread our mini Hereford to a handful of heifers and milk cow last May, so we have been expecting the heifers to drop any time now.
