Taking Time 7-29-10

Time is one of the greatest gifts we can give to someone.....especially children.  All of our children need to have us as parents spend time with them.  Sometimes that is accomplished by sitting down reading a book, or playing "tickle tickle", riding the horse, playing tag, going swimming or even tucking them in bed at night and singing a song or two.  It is so neat to see the many different ways each of our children like to spend their time and watch how they feel loved.  Some enjoy action and "fun", while others enjoy peace and calm one on one. I am so blessed to watch Stephen love each of our children they way they need to be loved.  It is a challenge, but so rewarding!

MamaGeese came for a quick visit on the 29th while Stephen was at work.  She managed to pack in the time to sing songs (which is what she is doing in the picture above), read books, play ball, push little ones on the swings, do some dishes and laundry, make spaghetti sauce, and cook and de-bone 4 of our little chickens to put away in the freezer for after the baby is born.  She was like a burst of sunshine that came in and then out, all in less than 24 hours.  It was very refreshing to have her there.  Thank you so much mom for the great visit.  We ALL enjoyed you being there and spending time with us.

Here is Stephen reading a book to all the kids one evening down at Mo and Pawpaw's.  The kids always look forward to going to the farm, or down to the Herzog's just as much as Stephen and I do.  The only problem is, that we all have so much to say and talk about to the people we are going to visit, that at times it gets a tad noisy and it is hard to stay focused.  Stephen saw the noise and activity level rising and took a few moments of time to lay down and read a book to the kids.  As you can see, they all were captivated.

We are so blessed to have parents and grandparents on both sides of our family that understand time and want to be able to spend it with us.  We can't thank you all enough!

Hi Christina,
It is such a blessing to read about your sweet family and see all your pictures! I am encouraged to see that you and Stephen are training your children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Keep up this important work and don't grow weary!

Love, Emily

Had a ball with each and every one of the kids, and you too. Yes, time is precious, and we must not take it for granted, but capitalize on each and every moment. Love you guys!
