Shredding 8-22-09 Softball 8-23-09

I had mentioned Stephen fixing the tractor in earlier posts. Well, he and Mr. Herzog were able to complete that (injection pump problem) and get everything hooked up. He couldn't wait to shred all the weeds in the pasture between Mr. & Mrs. Herzog's and the Farm. It looks so nice, and maybe the grass will actually have a sporting chance to grow now.
Stephen on his '69 model JD 4020 tractor. It sure is fun getting to see that older model tractor work. It is like the perfect picture of a tractor...the picture that pops into your mind when you hear the word "tractor", well, at least it does in my mind. I feel bad for him though, because it always seems to have a problem. He has enjoyed the challenge of learning how to work on it though and always feels such a since of accomplishment once it is up and running again.
While Stephen was shredding, we were all eating supper on the tailgates. The girls and I made egg rolls and dirty rice. The perfect food to eat outside (rice always goes everywhere when we eat it inside-so now we didn't have to vacuum).

Here is Stephen, Keith, and Kevin at Carl Barton Jr. Park. They all just got finished playing a couple of games. Stephen was so excited to get to play with his brothers. Keith and Kevin have games every Sunday evening and occasionally we will go and watch. Stephen always brings an extra change of clothes and his cleats just in case there is an opportunity for him to play. He finally got a chance- yea! It was really neat to see all the boys playing together. They all play so well and have such a great time.

In the mean time, I asked Mrs. Herzog to take a picture of the kids and I together. I wanted to be able to give it to Stephen (he was hoping for one of me with the kids for his birthday). We took just a few, and this one was the best.
