Misc December 09

Here are some pictures of things we did in December. Since it is already January and I am still posting on December, I am just going to summarize December to catch up quicker. There will still be another December post to come.
On December 8, 2009, we moved the big herd across the road to graze for the winter. We were letting the ground rest for 1 year. It had not been grazed or cut for hay for over 1 year. It had a good stand of grass that has fed the cows instead of constantly feeding hay through the winter. It has been a huge blessing, a lot less cost (no hay expense), and a great way to fertilize the ground (with all the cows in a mob rotating from one paddock to another). I am so proud of Stephen for all the research he has done. It is so exciting to see things work as he is able to put them into practice.
Stephen, Keith, and Kevin watching the cows right after they moved them across the road.
One morning while I was taking a nap, Stephen took the kids to get some fire wood. As you can see, they got a whole load full.
Sweet little James napping.
He is only 6 months and already pulling himself up into a standing position.
Here are the kids coloring. Martins page is full of "action" in black, and the girls page is neatly in the lines with pretty pink colors. Stephen and I have listened to a CD where the speaker recognizes differences in boys and girls and how they learn. Seeing their color papers makes me laugh, because it is exactly as he stated. Boys tend to think in action (or verbs), where as girls tend to think in things (or nouns). Nothing wrong with either, it is just special to note the differences.

You are so right. I think we listened to the same guy....Then there are differences within the girls, and you'll note that your guys will be somewhat different. Just look at your brothers....You all look great...love and hugs to each of you.....mamageese
