Fun Summer Days Mid May 2010

Here are a few shots of some summertime things going on around our house...
We moved Amos Duncan into the big cow herd on May 15th.  We have not had a bull with them for several months and have been waiting until the right time to put him out.  There are many factors we were considering as we made the decision, and we are excited to see how they do in time to come.
All the cows came to greet him.
One afternoon, Martin and Stephen saw an baby blue jay "fall" out of his nest.  It was probably his first time to attempt to fly and he didn't do so well.  Martin took full advantage of the opportunity, and saw the little bird on the ground and scooped him up.  The baby squawked louder and louder.  Stephen and I were inside and heard all the commotion the baby was making.  Next thing we know it was quiet and Martin was making his way upstairs to Stephen and I.  He had the bird in his hands, and to keep him from screeching louder and louder, he closed the baby blue jay's beak with his fingers.  We laughed at his thought process and marveled at the ideas he gets.  He took the bird back outside and let him go as his parents were looking for their baby.

One Sunday afternoon we went to the Seiters after church and had the best evening swimming in their beautiful pool.  Our children are fearless of water!  It is scary how un-afraid they truly are.  Elaina (1yr) was jumping in (the deep end mind you) for Millie (almost 4) to catch her.  They were both doing great and having a blast.

Uncle Shan and Aunt Paige came by one evening for a visit.  They were so sweet and read books to the kids and watched all of their newest tricks.  It is so special to see Shan and Paige take time out of their life to invest in our children's lives.  Thank you both!
One of my good friends in my teenage years was Kristen Riddell.  She is now Kristen Burwell and has 3 children.  They live in Washington state and were in Texas for her sisters wedding.  Kristen made the time to come out to our house for a visit.  We had a great time together getting to talk, have lunch with our little ones and reminisce together.  We were thinking...not even 10 years ago we were both single and singing in an ensemble group together, and going to church together.  Now we are both married and have 8 children between the two of us!  Wow, how times have changed!  We had a great afternoon though and were so blessed that she made the effort to come all the way out to our house for a little while.
