We have gotten to drive som absolutely gorgeous roads! Every time we turn a corner there is something else beautiful and grand to see! We are new at "dispersed camping", but were very ready to give it a try. We found a road that had a National Park entrance that appeared to be for jeeps and 4 wheelers. We thought for a moment if we should proceed, and with caution and excitement we did so.
It was one steep, rocky, narrow, hair-pinned turn, bouncy....road. We finally made it to a spot where we were planning on pulling over and setting up camp for the night. Stephen and the kids went searching for a somewhat level place to pitch the tent while I began to organize things in the van. They came back and said we must move on, because they saw something that looked beautiful and would be a great place to stay the night.
We loaded back up and went a little further on this exciting and dangerous road. It is one thing taking a 4 wheeler or jeep on the trails we were on, but a 15 passenger van is another. It made for some great memories though. Once we made it to the clearing, it was so breathtakingly beautiful! I am so glad we drove a little further. We set up camp and made some roll ups for supper.
It is so much fun having so many little helpers that want to be such a part of things. Everyone pitched in and we set up camp in no time. We have not been tent camping in many years, so we were not exactally "experienced" at it. But what I did not realize is that it is not much different than the way we do things at home. We live a very simple life and all work together, which is exactally what we did on our journey.
