Colorado Adventure Day 2 (8.8.12)

Here is a game of hide and seek for y'all!  We told all the kids to get behind a rock or somewhere they could hide, and we would see if everyone could find them.  All 7 are up there somewhere!! Look hard :)

We were so proud of the kids, because despite the huge altitude change, they all trucked along with us as we took a real hike.  We went up and down the sides of mountains, and at one point we created our own trail and went around the side.  Even Lyddia walked most of the way.  Stephen and I took turns carying Gus, and the rest for the most part walked.  We so enjoyed the beautiful view and breathtaking scenery!

We brought our picnic lunch with us and found a nice place in the rocks to stop and eat a bite. It has been different only eating out of a cooler and few sacks, but we have managed to come up with some great meals.
This is the view from one of the nearby mountains looking towards our camp.  There was absolutely no one else out there.  We had a wonderful time and so enjoyed the view, hike and fellowship with each other.  It was a bit different sleeping on the hard ground and being freezing cold, but the kids managed to get some sleep :)
Martin snapped a shot of Stephen and I on our break.  We just thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness we felt, as well as the sense of awe and worship towards the Lord.  It was so indescribably wonderful!
Here is the whole family!  It is rather challenging to get 9 of us all in one shot with the camera only at arms length away.  None the less, here we are.  I had to forgoe the view behind us to get everyones faces in the shot.

Here are the boys on the edge of a mountain with some more beautiful ones behind them.

And the girls.  All of these pictures were of our second day in the Devil's Canyon area.

We decided to take a picture after the treck up and then down the mountain to Devil's Canyon to show you what the trail looks like.  One thing we have all agreed on, is that pictures dont do it justice.  We were so grateful to find that perfect spot and have such a great first "dispersed" camping experience!
