Well, it has sure been a long time since a post on this here blog! We have had such a fun and busy life these past few months! The Lord has been faithful to guide us each and every day. Here are a few highlights from our times together...
Here is the whole Herzog family together at once!
We have enjoyed gathering at the farm once a week to do school together with all the cousins.
Always doing something fun and new and different! Here the kids are being pulled by Uncle Kevin in his truck around the pasture in a little boat.
A quick family picture after playing on "the hill "in Herman Park.
We headed down to Ellington Field one afternoon to see the Space Shuttle "Endeavor" on its way to California.
This is such a memory making picture to have! That old Massey Ferguson tractor used to do a lot back in its day. They say it will still run. Just needs some new tires.
Enjoying being a little growing family!
Martin had the desire to become a deer hunter this year. Stephen did what was needed to get that accomplished. They spent lots of time together as they went to a hunter safety class, practiced shooting, bought a gun for Martin (Martin earned half the money by working jobs around the farm for family), scouted the deer, made a deer blind (out of the wood from the saw mill!)...It has truly been a joy to watch them accomplish their goals and have such a great time together.
A beautiful fall morning on a decorated wagon.
Martin was able to accomplish his goal! He shot the first deer in our family! Stephen and he processed the whole thing and we ate the back strap that day for lunch. By the end of the week, all the deer meat was gone. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
We got to go pecan picking at Mr. Stoneham's one afternoon. Had a great time and got a little more than a 5 gallon bucket full of pecans in 2 hours. |
We got to go to Florida to meet up with my family from Guam and celebrate Thanksgiving together. We had a great time! |
My sister, NellieMae celebrated her lamp-lighting ceremony in nursing school and was so proud to have us all there.
Stephen also shot a deer! It was his first deer to ever shoot and it was
a big ol' buck. We processed this deer ourselves as well and got 12
meals out of him and put in the freezer.
Stephen worked Christmas day at the fire station, so we went to go have supper with him! We enjoyed our visit. We did our "Christmas" a few days later after all the time with family and friends got a little slower. We love being on the farm and close to family. It is always so fun to have others "come home" and do fun things together with everyone.
We have had a fun, exciting, adventuresome, blessed and full year! To wrap it all up, we just found out we are expecting another baby! We are so excited and can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for us in 2013!! Love to all, The Herzog Herd

Oh my goodness! What a wonderful family you have!
I have no family at all and so enjoyed, however painful, to read all the happenings. Wow! I gather that you also home school your children? I have tears in my eyes as i type this note. I have a son(41) who is very sweet but not fully functional He does his best and has a very good heart. My daughter Sheila (38) and I have not seen each other for several years. She has her own set of problems which she cannot face; I pray each day for her to know what's she's missing. I am 71 years old and still quite active. I just retired as a Teacher Assistant. I volunteer at a soup kitchen, knit, love to cook and entertain, have a very balanced church where I have a few very good friends. I just got involved with AARP to volunteer my services as a Greeter at tax time. Well, I so enjoyed reading this blog. May God bless you. He is good!
